Santa Claus make over - sewing him a new outfit.
This is a Santa I got as a sales gimmick at my hair dresser's in 2001. My son loves it. I don't. Well, I didn't. Now I do. I asked him a couple of years ago if I could make him a new outfit to make him less "Made in China"? He agreed.
Here is how I made him over. First look at what he looked like before in his original clothes.

I stripped him down. The shoes did not come off so I just worked with those. And reused the belt since it went with the shoes.
I bought some off white and gray fleece and some faux fur fabric which I cut up into strips. This is the same faux fur that I used as trim on one of the Christmas cones.
I used this existing clothes to draw the patterns from. I upsized the clothes slightly and made the pants longer too to cover the boots more.
I got some burlap ribbon which I used for a new gift sack. I made the hat considerably longer.
Then I sewed it all together and added fur trim like on his original clothes. I also added a fur ball to the end of his bat. I even found a miniature teddy bear to go with some newly wrapped neutral gifts for the sack (made wider)

Then I dressed him in his new clothes. He began to smile.
Under the beard. Yup. Definitely smiling now.
